The "Irresistible" Iota Rho Chapter
The Irresistible Iota Rho Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, Inc. provides service to the Spelman College Music Department, promotes sisterhood in music, encourages leadership through musical achievement, and honors academic scholarship.
How do I join?
To join Tau Beta Sigma, you must attend our mandatory rush and greek forum during the academic year you wish to become a candidate and are encouraged to come to our other events to get to know the sisters throughout the semester! Information about these events will be posted on our events page, the bulletin board in the Jazz Band room, as well as in the Greek Box in Upper Manley. Attendance at Formal Rush and Greek Forum is required to receive an invitation for membership to Tau Beta Sigma.
Why should I join?
Joining Tau Beta Sigma helps you become more involved with our band programs by getting involved in the behind-the-scenes aspect of game days, concerts, and recitals. Tau Beta Sigma will inevitably help you develop your leadership skills with numerous opportunities to serve the band and assist in event planning. Joining Tau Beta Sigma introduces you to new friends out of your instrumental ensemble and even outside of the AUC! Joining Tau Beta Sigma is a lot of fun! There are tons of Tau Beta Sigma social events throughout the year, including conventions, competitions, neophyte presentations, and more.
What is required for membership?

At least have a 3.0 cumulative GPA

Be of sophomore status (30 credit hours or more)

Must have participated in at least one semester in an instrumental ensemble in the AUC and/or have a music platform

During candidacy must be enrolled in a Spelman College sanctioned instrumental ensemble

Attend both Formal Rush and Greek Forum
When is the next rush event?
The Irresistible Iota Rho Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma will have pre-rush activities in the spring of 2017.
